About the Department

The Department of Microbiology studies microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. It is very important for understanding infections, immunity, hospital infection control and antibiotic use. In MBBS training, Microbiology prepares students for clinical subjects including Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery and Community Medicine.

Course Details

The course covers bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology, sterilization, infection control, vaccination and laboratory diagnosis. Students learn culture methods, staining techniques, microscopy, identification of pathogens and interpretation of infection-related reports.
